Major League Baseball Free Agency Begins

191 is the number Major League Baseball officials are concentrating on as baseball free agency begins. That is the number of free agents available this year, and you can bet the action will be fast and furious as November moves into December and we get that much closer to the beginning of spring training.

The free agent list is led by starting pitchers David Price and Zack Greinke, two perennial free agents who seem to always be mentioned this time of year, but most teams will be concentrating on those free agents behind the top two spots. That is where the good values will be found and that is where team weaknesses can become strengths.

The winter of baseball action has already begun with a six-player trade between the Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays.  That trade happened a bit early in the proceedings, but perhaps it is a hint of a very busy winter of trades and signings.

The Winter Meetings will take place in December, so we are about one month away from some very serious action happening.  Stay tuned as we will chronicle the important athlete relocations that happen.
