SportsRelocation.com - Boston Celtics’ Ray Allen Lists Seattle-Area Home

At the end of the 2007-08 NBA season and in a heartbreaking decision for Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, the Seattle SuperSonics ceased operations and moved to Oklahoma City where the team became the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Although the Sonics have long departed, there remain vestiges of what once was, such as occasional sightings of Sonic logos on street poles, or player posters in bars. Perhaps the house of former Sonic guard Ray Allen counts, too.

Allen, who now plays for the Boston Celtics, has listed his 10,000-square foot, 4.5-acre estate in Carnation, WA for $3.7 million. This is not the first time the home has been listed for sale since Allen was traded to the Celtics in 2007; according to the Zillow Price History chart, it was listed twice in 2008 — once in August for $6 million and again in November for $5.2 million. Third time’s a charm, right?

According to a press release issued by Allen’s real estate agency, Matrix Real Estate, Ray Allen’s home features 5 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, 6 fireplaces,  a formal living and dining room, 3 family rooms, mud room, 2 laundry rooms, and a generator to keep the power on in stormy weather. Custom touches include the handsome wood-paneled office with built-in desk and shelving, a yoga/pilates room with rubber-mat flooring and a full-height mirror.

During Allen’s 4-year tenure in Seattle (2003-2007), he lived here with his wife and three children. The house boasts numerous kid and athlete-friendly amenities, such as a putting green, full-size basketball/tennis court, children’s play house, nursery, hot tub, and swimming pool. And of course, what high-profile athlete’s home would be complete without  a walk-through double-headed shower, silk draperies, a gourmet kitchen, garage parking for 6 cars, and an 8-seat, private screening room with surround sound and wet bar.

Allen has been in Boston with the Celtics since the 2007-2008 season. Earlier this year, he signed a $20 million, two-year contract extension through the end of the 2011-2012 season.
