For the very precious of your breakables, we strongly suggest double-boxing.  Box them first in a box surrounded by peanuts or bubble wrap and then put the first box in a second box with bubble wrap or peanuts in-between the two boxes.  Seem like a bit too much?  Well let’s ask you a question: how important is that breakable item to you?  The answer to that question should determine whether you double box or not.
